Description
What is Endace 160 mg?
Endace 160Mg Tablet is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone which is most commonly used as an appetite stimulating agent in the treatment of anorexia and cachexia associated with HIV/AIDS. It is also used as an antineoplastic agent in the palliate treatment of breast cancer or endometrial cancer.
It mimics the action of progesterone by binding to progesterone receptors and stimulates the expression of target genes. Its antitumor properties are because of its progesterone agonist activity, which leads to a decrease in secretion of luteinizing hormone from the pituitary. This in turn leads to a decreased production of estrogen from the ovaries thus impeding the growth of estrogen sensitive tumours.
Endace 160Mg Tablet should not be taken while pregnant or breastfeeding as it may cause harm to the fetus. It should also be avoided if you are allergic to any of its active ingredients or are taking the medication Indinavir (Crixivan).
Some of the most common side effects of the drug include nausea, weight gain, dizziness, difficulty falling asleep, excessive flatulence, spotting in between menstrual cycles and edema. Very high dosages of Endace 160Mg Tablet can lead to symptoms of hypogonadism including decreased secondary sexual characteristics, osteoporosis, and infertility. In severe cases, it may lead to blood clots, diabetes, venous thrombosis, but such cases are rare.
