Thyronorm 50Mcg Tablet plays an important role in controlling body metabolism and regulates the functions of the heart and the digestive tract. It also keeps the bones strong, helps in development of the brain and controls muscle growth.
In case if an underactive thyroid, the hormone may be replaced with Thyronorm 50Mcg Tablet. The dosage of Thyronorm 50Mcg Tablet is generally determined by the doctor, who decides the dose depending on the age as well as weight of the individual. A patient’s present health condition and medical history is also kept in mind when determining the dose.
Thyronorm 50 mcg tablets contain levothyroxine is prescribed under the following conditions:
- Hypothyroidism
- Congenital hypothyroidism in infants
- Acquired hypothyroidism
- Juvenile myxedema
With this medicine, blood tests are required to be monitored after every 3 months to keep eye on the levels of thyroid in the body.

Swallow the whole tablet. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Take the drug on an empty stomach and at least 30 minutes before the breakfast.
If you miss a dose of Thyronorm 50mcg Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
The overdose symptoms of Thyronorm 50mcg Tablet may include:
- Headache
- Leg cramps
- Tremors
- Chest pain
- Feeling nervous
- Shortness of breath
- Increased heartbeat
You must seek immediate medical care if you experience any of the above symptoms.
Contraindicated in patients with untreated hyperthyroidism, recent heart attack and hypersensitivity.
Overdose:
The symptoms of an overdose include, confusion, headache, pyrexia, sweating, irritability, agitation, convulsions, increased bowel movements, tachypnoea, and hyperactivity. The appearance of clinical hypothyroidism may be delayed up to 5 days. Therefore, avoid overdosing of the drug. In cas you accidentally take an overdose, visit your doctor right away.
Missed dose:
If a scheduled daily dose of Thyroxine Sodium is missed, the dose should be taken as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Always remember, two doses should not be taken together.
