Abiraterone is used to treat advanced cases of prostate cancer in adult men where it has started spreading to the other parts of the body, especially metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Abiraterone is usually used in patients where chemotherapy and other hormonal therapies are effective in stopping the progression of the cancer.
Abiraterone may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How does Xbira 250 mg work?
Abiraterone belongs to antineoplastics and antiandrogen drug classes. Abiraterone is type of CYP17 inhibitor. Abiraterone works by inhibiting the production of testosterone. The cancerous cells are unable to grow without testosterone.Abiraterone acetate belongs to a class drugs known as antiandrogens. It stops the body from making testosterone which can slow the growth of prostate cancer.
How to take Xbira 250 mg?
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Xbira 250mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
The dosage of oral tablet and capsules of Abiraterone depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take Abiraterone as prescribed by your doctor. Abiraterone must be taken an hour before food or at least two hours after food. Abiraterone must not be taken along with food.
Do not chew, crush or break Abiraterone tablets when swallowing.
If you miss a dose of Abiraterone, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose. XBIRA can cause foetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. XBIRA is not indicated for use in women. XBIRA is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant. If this drug is used during pregnancy, or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this drug, apprise the patient of the potential hazard to the foetus and the potential risk for pregnancy loss.
Xbira 250 mg Dosage
- Missed Dose:
If a dose of Xbira 250 mg Tablet is missed, skip the missed dose and continue the normal dosing schedule from the next day. If more than one dose is missed, contact the doctor and follow the instructions of your doctor.
- Overdose:
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
