Acivir 800 can be used to treat shingles (herpes zoster), cold sores around the mouth (herpes simplex), and chickenpox. The active ingredient acyclovir works by slowing the spread and growth of the herpes virus to allow the immune system to fight the infection. It belongs to a class of antiviral medications called synthetic nucleoside analogs.
Some people may also use the medication to treat and prevent future outbreaks of genital herpes. This contains the active ingredient Acyclovir. It is a potent antiviral drug to treat cold sores around the mouth, shingles, and chickenpox
Acivir 800 mg is used to diagnose various forms of infections caused by viruses. This drug is prescribed to treat outbreaks of genital herpes. The viruses causing such infections continue to live in the body, even between outbreaks, whereas acyclovir decreases the severity and length of these, outbreaks.
Acivir 800 mg DT Tablet Uses?
Acivir 800 should be taken with some food along with plenty of fluids throughout the treatment. It should be taken 2 to 5 times per day for 5 to 10 days or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. The medication can be used to treat herpes related conditions but cannot be used to cure the herpes virus.

Acyclovir, the active component of the medicine is a strong antiviral drug for herpes. This medicine works by inhibiting the DNA polymerase of the virus, which in turn prevents it from spreading.
How to take Acivir 800 mg DT Tablet?
You can take Acivir 800 mg tablets orally before or after a meal. Usually, it’s taken 2-5 times a day under the prescription of the doctor. The liquid form of this medicine is also available; you just shake the bottle before opening it and then take an appropriate dose as your doctor directs. Its dosage probably depends on the medical condition of a patient as well as response to treatment. You have to complete the full course of this medication.
Acivir 800 mg DT Tablet Contraindications:
ACIVIR DT is contraindicated in patients who develop a hypersensitivity to aciclovir or valaciclovir, or to any of the excipients.
Acivir 800 mg DT Tablet Dosage?
- Missed Dose:
If you miss a dose of Acyclovir, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
- Overdose:
Seek emergency medical cure or contact the doctor in case of an overdose. If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.

- Swelling and redness at the injection site
- Abdominal pain
- Increased thirst

Acivir 800 mg DT Tablet Warnings?
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Acivir 800 is not always suitable for all patients.
